Hello, I'm Sarah, a warm, open and empathic counsellor working in the centre of Cheadle Hulme. I am easily reached from all areas of Stockport, South Manchester and East Cheshire.
I also offer online sessions via Zoom, if that would suit you better.
I believe that we are all unique individuals and that we have the capacity to heal, find solutions to challenges, and develop a stronger sense of ourselves.
I want you to feel valued, respected and understood as you become empowered on your journey of self-discovery and personal growth.
Before training as a counsellor, I worked in the corporate field for over 20 years. During this time, I began to appreciate the many issues and challenges that people experience both in the workplace and in their personal lives and saw the emotional and physical results first-hand. My interest in counselling developed from this, and the awareness of the value gained from having the time and space to talk and share with others. In addition to my private practice, I have several years of experience volunteering in the charity sector for two local charities, I met clients from all backgrounds with a diversity of different issues and experiences. I was rewarded by witnessing their growth and the change in how they felt about themselves.
I am a member of the BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists) meaning that I work in accordance with their Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions ensuring that I work in the most professional and ethical way with my clients.
I am listed on the BACP Register which is a register accredited by the Professional Standards Authority and a record of counsellors and psychotherapists who meet or exceed the BACP recommended minimum quality standards.
I hold an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificate.
I am registered with the Information Commissioners Office (ICO).
For continuing professional development, I attend workshops and seminars on a regular basis and undertake reading to keep up to date with developments and thinking in the therapeutic field. I also undertake regular clinical supervision and attend group supervision sessions with my peers.
