Hi, I’m Sarah, a warm, open and empathic person-centred counsellor working in the centre of Cheadle Hulme and also online. In addition to my private practice I also counsel at two local charities.
Some of the areas of therapy I deal with are: Anxiety Depression Domestic abuse Loneliness Loss and grief Low self-esteem Stress Work-related issues
Before training as a counsellor I worked as a people manager for over 20 years. During this time I was exposed to many of the issues that people experience in the workplace and saw the emotional and physical results first-hand. My approachable, genuine and caring manner encouraged people to talk freely to me in relation to both work and personal issues, illustrating the trust and rapport that had built between us. My interest in counselling and the appreciation of the ‘power’ of talking developed from the awareness of how many people experience problems or have worries that they just need to talk to someone about.
I am a member of the BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists) meaning that I work in accordance with their Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions ensuring that I work in the most professional and ethical way with my clients.
I am listed on the BACP Register which is a register accredited by the Professional Standards Authority and a record of counsellors and psychotherapists who meet or exceed the BACP recommended minimum quality standards.
I hold an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificate. I am registered with the Information Commissioners Office (ICO). For continuing professional development, I attend workshops and seminars on a regular basis and undertake reading to keep up to date with developments and thinking in the therapeutic field. I also undertake regular clinical supervision and attend group supervision sessions with my peers.
